Privacy Policy
What this website collects, what it does not, and exactly where it goes. Written about this site specifically rather than copied from a template.
This policy describes what happens to your information when you use valleywideleakdetection.com, call or text the number on it, or send us a message through it. It is written to describe what this website actually does, not what a template says a website might do.
What you send us on purpose
The form on this site asks for your name, a phone number, what is going on, and anything you have noticed. When you submit it, that information is emailed to this business and to YelloPost, the agency that built and maintains the website, so that a message cannot be lost if one mailbox fails. It is not posted anywhere public and it is not sold, rented or traded.
The form also carries a hidden field that a person never sees and never fills in. Automated spam submissions fill it in, which is how they are discarded. Messages containing obvious spam patterns are discarded the same way. If you submit the form twice within a few minutes with the same details, the second one is treated as a double-click and not emailed again.
If you email or text us instead, that message sits in the business's email or on the phone in the ordinary way.
Calling or texting
The phone number published on this website is a tracking number that rings the business. It exists so we can tell which calls came from the website rather than from somewhere else. The service that connects the call records the calling number, the date and how long the call lasted. We do not record the audio of calls.
If you text a photo to that number, the message and the image are delivered to us as an email so that the person doing the work can see it. Standard message rates from your own carrier apply, and we will only text you back about the job you contacted us about.
The chat assistant
The chat window in the corner of the page is an assistant that answers questions about leaks and this business. What you type in it is sent to our own server and then to an artificial-intelligence service operated by Anthropic, which generates the reply. A transcript of the conversation can be emailed to us, and if you give a name, a phone number or an email address in the chat so that somebody can get back to you, those details are emailed to us as a message in the same way the form is.
Please do not type anything into the chat that you would not put in an email — no card details, no account numbers, no passwords. Nothing on this website ever needs them.
What is stored in your own browser
This website keeps a small number of settings in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device, they are not sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes them:
- Your accessibility choices, so the text size, contrast theme and other adjustments you set are still there on the next page.
- Whether you have dismissed the notice at the bottom of the screen.
- Whether the “before you go” panel has already been shown to you in this browsing session, so it does not appear twice.
The notice at the bottom of the screen is part of the accessibility toolkit used across our agency's sites and its wording mentions traffic analysis. On this website, as it stands, there is no analytics product, no advertising pixel and no tracking profile built about you. If that changes, this page will change with it and will say what was added.
Things your browser loads from other companies
Pages here ask your browser to fetch a small number of files from other companies. Those companies can see your IP address and which page requested the file, in the same way any website you visit can:
- Google Fonts serves the two typefaces the site is set in.
- Leaflet, on the service areas page, provides the map software, and the map images themselves come from Esri and OpenStreetMap contributors.
- Anthropic, only if you use the chat assistant, as described above.
We do not control what those companies do with a request their own servers receive. Their policies are on their own websites.
How long we keep things
A message you send becomes an email, and emails are kept as long as they are useful for the work — a leak that was found once is often relevant when something happens at the same property later. Ask us to delete your enquiry and we will.
Children
This is a website about finding water leaks. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Your choices
- Ask us what we hold about you, and we will tell you.
- Ask us to delete your enquiry, and we will.
- Ask us to stop texting or calling you, and we will stop.
- Clear your browser's storage for this site and the settings above are gone.
Changes to this policy
If what the website does changes — a new form, an analytics product, a different chat provider — this page gets updated to say so. It describes the site as it is now, not as it might be.
